Principal Administrative Analyst:
Provide data analysis and data management in support of institutional research for an academic planning and budget office; facilitate access by campus stakeholders to current and historical data on students, staff, departmental workload, retention and graduation; author SQL queries, perform multivariate statistical analyses, and present findings; design and develop visualizations, including interactive dashboards, scorecards and reports; support applications of institutional research in decision making, including in the areas of enrollment management, revenue forecasting, strategic planning, academic program review, and accreditation; gather information on the processes and needs of campus units, and use this knowledge to identify opportunities for collaboration, use of automation and advanced analytics, and project development; work to improve self-service functionality for clients; maintain relational database data repositories to support institutional research needs; perform primary source data extractions from information systems; build, support, and maintain the accuracy of the systems housing data; and perform data validation, accuracy, and consistency analyses.
Requirement: Master’s degree in statistics, sociology (quantitative methods), computational sciences or a related field. Three years of experience in the job offered, or as a Data Scientist, Data Analyst or a related occupational title. Of the three years of required experience, experience must include three years of experience in institutional research, statistical data analyses, predictive modeling and data mining. The following skills can be met through prior work experience or university education with no requirement for specific duration of time as proof of proficiency: demonstrated experience with large dataset or data warehouses, particularly within higher education; demonstrated knowledge of data visualization to design, enhance, and develop aesthetically pleasing visualizations, including interactive dashboards, scorecards and reports; demonstrated experience in SQL, relational databases, and concepts related to data warehousing; demonstrated experience in analyzing large data sets to implement solution focused resolutions in relation to automation and coding practices; demonstrated experience using statistical software including SAS, SPSS, R for data mining and analysis purposes; demonstrated experience with higher education data, enrollment management, and accreditation; demonstrated experience in responding to and submitting institutional data publication surveys (e.g. U.S. News and College Board), accountability surveys (WASC, IPEDS), and other organizations (e.g. AAUDE); demonstrated experience with Python for web scraping and text mining.
